Afternoon Delight

Its Monday, work sucks as I'm busy with reports and covering the absence of my assistant. So your average Monday...right? While listening to the radio I was reminded that the Public Enemies premiere was today at Leicester Square, as six o'clock approached I was in two minds of going.

Now a few years ago at the MI3 premiere, after a bit of pushing and careful manoeuvring, I met Tom Cruise and he spoke to my sister on the phone and Tom Cruise is major! So if there is a premiere in Leicester Sq and I know the actor in question spends a bit of time outside, there is a good chance of seeing them for real.

A few weeks ago I missed the Transformers 2 premiere as it was my friends birthday, so I didn't get my film hoopla fix.

Recently after another evening watching T.V, I saw the coverage of the Public Enemies premiere in Chicago and watched how Johnny Depp (swoon!) said he didn't watch his own movies and stayed out longer to meet the fans waiting outside. So, as six o'clock approached, I thought "what the hell" I grabbed my bag and headed down to the premiere for my afternoon delight.... and what a delight it was.

I think I might be becoming an expert as this premiere thing... The premiere was at The Empire cinema, so I walked down the side street by the cinema and managed to squeeze myself near the front. After a few false starts I heard the screams and the surge forward began... and in minutes there he was...

Johnny Depp was right in front of me. Only one person stood in the way of me and the big JD, the Deppster, the guy I have had a crush on way before he got that tattoo and broke Winona's heart.

Yes folks I was so close I could smell him

I was shocked at how stunningly beautiful he is, and how photos and movies just do not to this guy any justice, whatsoever, I'm serious... beyond perfection. Can you believe that 30 minutes ago I was sitting in front of my computer thinking I'll just about see him amongst the sea of crazy, weird fans and lets face it, there were some weirdos.. Surprisingly I was surrounded by tall geeky guys and their Tim Burtonesque photos of Johnny Depp. Which he gladly signed for them!

Now Johnny was not with his lady love, but after I came, saw and caught him on film I ducked out of there with the satisfaction of knowing that this was another thing I could cross of my list... After all I have met Christian Slater too (which might not mean anything to you, but I watched all of his films in the 90's and had his posters on my wall) now only if I can get to meet Pauly Shore I'll be set for life!
