Oh Oscar!

Ok Ok it’s all a bit last minute… Forgive me I’ve been busy, but I have been talking about my Oscar predictions for a while… what’s new right?

So lets cut to the chase, the big cheese…yada yada yada

Jeff (The Dude) Bridges – Best Actor

Sandra (don’t mention Speed 2) Bullock – Best Actress

Christoph (That’s a bingo) Waltz – Best Supporting Actor

Mo’Nique – Best Supporting Actress

Kathryn (the ex) Bigelow – Best Director (if she won she’d be the first woman to win!)

Avatar – Best Film

Now don’t get me wrong, this is who I think the Academy will pick.

If there are any shockers to be had, then I think Best Actress would go to Gabourey Sidibe and The Hurt Locker would win Best Film with Kathryn Bigelow still nabbing Best Director.

The Academy Awards are a long affair, so hosting duties are very important.

I’m looking forward to Alec Baldwin’s antics as co-host, Steve Martin on the other hand… not so much.

Steve Martin is not as funny as he once was. However, evidence proves he works well with other peeps e.g. Parenthood, LA Story, Planes Trains and Automobiles and the classic Three Amigos!

Alec is hilarious and, to me, has always been. This guy has hosted SNL 14 times and appeared in countless SNL sketches.

I’ll always hold the Schweddy Balls skit close to my heart....

Am I setting myself up for a fall? Will my high expectations fall flat on the night..?

I hope not..

… if it does, then they need to bring back Billy (8 times!) Crystal. He's still got it!

Re - Act

An actors job is to act...right?

Isn't it all about imagination and make believe...

But then you have "Method" actors, who need to eat, breathe and live these characters lives to give an authentic performance.

Then I was online on Vanity Fair. Photographer Howard Schatz had a brilliant idea...

BTW, Jeff Goldblum & Michael Douglas, pure genius!

Fa Fa Fashion

Those who know me, know I love, Love, LOVE The Sartorialist.

As someone who people watches on the sly, I love the fact Scott Schuman finds these amazingly dressed specimen's on the streets of the world and takes photo's of them!

Week on week I'm envious. How do these people look so immaculate, interesting and stylishly fashionable??... There are no fashion victims here.

These people, their style is something I aspire too..

I wonder if I have my own style or style full stop.

These days I feel more like Whitney from Eastenders...

than Whitney Port...

Summer is when I look and feel my best, but these recent shots, from London, show you can look deliciously fabulous, understated and warm in winter

Lurve Love

I love Love, especially the word Love.

I have a tattoo of the word Love, artwork of the word Love in my home and I love the famous LOVE sculpture, designed by Robert Indiana.

So as Valentines Day is approaching, I saw my friend on this website with all these cool furnishings with my favourite word all over them.

The website is Rocket St George and I have to stay it is awesome..too friggin cool. I wish I could load up on all their goodies.

The Valentine's range offer you gifts that are unique and original. My fav's are the Brigitte Heroed range

However, have a peruse at the other categories. They have amazing wall stickers. Paris is another theme I love. The Effiel Tower Arch is one I have to put on my list.

And this candle especially for cupcakes....

Birthday Candelabra - Silver

I love cupcakes and hate the single, lonely candle that is placed when one is given to you on a birthday. This makes it more fun.. So there's no pressure in springing for a big cake (wink wink)

It's a London Ting

Why is it I always get inspiration to write just before I go to bed??

My thoughts become so clear and the words flow so easily. Sod it, I now have a note pad by my bed.

So last night as I was nuzzling into my pillow, (trying to find that spot that is so comfortable that I’ll drift off to sleep instantly) I heard sirens, police sirens walling loudly down my street. Some how this comforted me and I thought to myself I love this town..

..London Town.

Hearing the sound of the sirens and the noise from the street below (I live on a main street with the 24hr flow of buses) I felt a sense of familiarity, a sense of home and I smiled. However to some people this is their idea of hell.

I suppose it’s a London Ting (or Thing depending on what borough you’re from..) it has to be – why on earth would someone enjoy or not even notice the sound of bus engine rattling while waiting at the traffic light – or the sound of the sirens from a police car or fire engine.

The sound of grown men shouting the odds echo throughout the night on a regular basis... and the best thing is the light and how its still bright when I turn the lights off.

The dim light of the street lamps and the harsh light from the windows across the street, slowly seeps through my wooden blinds, making everything so relaxing and safe.

I have travelled to many countries, cities and of course I always complain about London as every other proper Londoner does and how I want to live in another country.

But I’ve tried to sleep in the soundless, pitch blackness of other places and cannot sleep.

However I remember being in San Francisco once, sleeping soundly, then waking to hear the familiar noise of a garbage truck at 5 past early doors. Then easily drifting back to sleep with a smile feeling happy, feeling relaxed, because it all felt familiar…..

..it felt like home.

That's Amore

Are we all just in the search for love..?

Someone to love us, someone to love, to have love all around, to feel the love

Does love conquer all? Does love or will love solve all our problems?

LOVE is so complicated, love is pain and pain is love

love is blind.. are you a fool for love?

Love is everyting and everything is Us

love is a mystery and love is a battlefield

Live Life Love. Do we search for love so we can begin life?

loVe is universal, the language LOvE

Is it really better to have loved and lost, then never to have LOVED at all..?

Love is the question Love is the answer

A true story of Boy meets Girl

I found this film very refreshing and true.

I saw a film.. The film in question – 500 days of Summer.

If you haven’t seen this film yet, then go see it!

Now whenever I see a romantic comedy with my friend, she always comments on how it’s fake and is not reality, Que rolling eyes..

So when we watched 500 days of Summer, she went on about how horrible Summer was and how she was wrong to do this and that. I found that this was a very true portrayal of a certain type of relationship, which is the type of relationship the majority of us have had.. Hence why a lot of people are single – ahem.

Which was what my friend did not want to admit.

What I liked about the film was how this type of lovelorn character, which would normally be portrayed by a female – was played by the exceptional Joseph Gordon Levitt. While the effortless Zooey Deschanel played the cool realist, the one pulling the strings….his heart strings to be exact.

While watching I wondered what the guys in the audience were thinking, as here was a guy who is lovesick fool for this girl. A guy who needs to define the relationship, a guy who says I love you first without sounding like a stalker. This guy’s heart is broken when he gets dumped and lets everyone see it… we don’t normally see this in films. Its nice and I want to see more of it!

The way the film was cut and edited was very reminiscent of how one would look back on a relationship in your own life. Details, the detail in the little things were perfect touches. No big gestures or grand clichés, nothing obvious. Except for that dance… well you might feel that way inside!

The ending was interesting. If the roles were reversed, would we be comfortable with the ending? Would they even allow an ending like this? A female character rides off into the sunset, independent and happy…. Or are we happier seeing a female character married, settled, OK… Which did happened to Summer, but in the way that was deliciously unpredictable for her character's nature and was central for us to see, so we could feel his despair and essentially to squeeze out a few more drops of heartbreak.

The ending was hopeful for all those who have had their heartbroken.

As one door closes…
